When was the last time you really knocked the snot out a classic polygon? If fully textured fighting games like Tekken and Dead or Alive leave you yearning for the classics that made them possible, you are in luck. AM2, the makers of Virtua Fighter 2, Sonic the Fighters and Fighting Vipers will release these very same titles on PSN and XBLA. Who is AM2 you ask? Only among some the most recognizable titles in SEGA’s catalog. Does Afterburner II, Outrun or Space Harrier ring a bell?

The mid-nineties saw the emergence of a 3D polygon fighting game bonanza, and SEGA was at the forefront. Arcades across the world were graced with Virtua Fighter 2 in 1994. Sonic the Fighters and Fighting Vipers arrived in arcades in 1996. Virtua Fighter 2 would become the “flagship” title for the Sega Saturn, known for its near perfect arcade ports (when such things were impressive). Enjoy classic fighting for $4.99 on Tuesday the 27th of November the PlayStation Network.
